Welcome to Year 2

Over the first half term, will explore a range of Pirate stories, including pirate language and sounds.  We will be reviewing learned, and learning new punctuation which we will be encouraging the children to look for in their reading and to use in their writing.  We will continue with our phonics and handwriting sessions in addition to weekly grammar lessons.

After half term we will be using the book 'Funnybones' to write a newspaper report which will include an eyewitness statement.

In reading groups we are introducing Book Talk.  Please ensure that your child has their school reading book in school every day as we will be using these throughout the week.

The children will continue to build on the mathematical skills learned in the Autumn Term.  These skills will cover Multiplication and Division, Statistics, Length, Height and Properties of Shape.  We will continue to practise rapid recall of the times tables (including corresponding division facts).
